Eternal fire

You saw me

A rock floating in space

You threw a rock at me, I took it

You threw another one, I took

that one as well. Quietly.

You keep throwing and I

keep taking.

What you don’t see, my dear,

Is that I have this fire at my heart

Burning and churning

Melting every piece you throw

Every single pebble

made me stronger

I made oceans. I made forests.

I made life. I hold it all.

Now you see me as mother Earth.

You expect me to hold it all

and I do. But don’t forget.

That fire is still not off.

Every now and then it bursts

out of my vents.

Shaking and breaking

now listen carefully, you better not

stand in my way when that happens

Just get out of the way if you can

Let me let out the steam.

Let me scream.

For all the hits I took,

all the life I give

all the fire still burning

this is how it’s gonna be

this is what I need

trust me dear, this is what you need

And when the dust settles

I hold you in my arms.

Like I always do.

Because you know very well my love

What fuels that eternal fire
